Show tonight.

Good morning dear friends. Ben here. We have a show tonight at Clearwater in West Dundee, and it should be a blast! We’re playing with some cool cats known as The Reverends and also The Paxton Bros. I’m really looking forward to not only playing our songs, but also playing them in an environment that isn’t a stifling basement!

We’re getting some merch together for the show as well! Chris’s fiance and friend Kat is making us some neat buttons to sell, and we’re finishing up the packaging on a batch of EPs so that people can get a copy (that is, if our sound tickles their fancy).

I guess this is a general post based on things that have been happening, and things that have been on my mind. I wanted to bring up a situation that recently happened in Chicago. On July 10th, a Chicago musician named Matthew Leone was attacked when he protected his wife from a mugging. He suffered a fractured jaw and skull, and is in intensive care. Being a musician, and not very financially stable, he did not have health insuranc, but had to undergo several expensive operations, including having a hole cut in his skull to reduce swelling in his brain. Billy Corgan and the neo-smashing-pumpkins were able to raise over $800,000 at a benefit show for Matthew and his family, which was a great blessing. This story really hit home for me, and I guess I’m sick of the violence that is plaguing Chicago as a whole. If you’re reading this and believe in prayer, please pray, not only for Matthew and his family, but also for the other countless families in Chicago that are affected by violent crimes.

On a different note, the summer is coming to a close. I can’t believe all of the things that have happened this summer, and where God has taken us as a band. It seems like yesterday that I was calling Chris at the beginning of May, saying “Hey man, thanks for wanting to play. Andy and I are going to get together tomorrow and play, do you want to come?”. We’ve been working our butts off, and it’s been a blast. If you haven’t checked out our new tunes, you can on our myspace, at http://www.myspace.com/itsanoreaster. We’ve got stuff up on iTunes, Amazon’s mp3 store, and cdbaby.com if you’re keen on getting a digital copy of the EP. All this being said, we’re just excited to start playing more shows and getting to know all of you who have been following our journey so far!

P.S. be expecting videos of the show tonight, our buddy Jake is going to be getting some footage. Video updates soon as well!

P.P.S I got the new iPhone and it’s making me as giddy as a schoolgirl. True story.

I hope you guys have a great time at Clearwater! Also, I’m not a fan of Madina Lake’s music, but NO ONE should have to go through what Matthew went through.
